Here are the specs. Says they're good for up to .500 lift, we'll see.

Question for everyone, might be silly but at least entertain me. Got two sets of heads to choose from back from the machine shop, a set of 906 Vortecs and a set of 624 smog dogs. Before everyone says use the Vortecs, i did get a set of .500 lift z28 springs installed in the 624's so i can use a bigger cam (comp 268) with the 624's.

Which heads should I use?

Had To head out of town for the entire month of August with work so it put me a little behind. Here is the block with the bearings going in back from the shop.

Installing the crank, still can't believe I grabbed a good motor for 120 bucks.

Reused the pistons and rods. Cleaned them up with soap, water and parts cleaner and rigged up a couple ratchet straps to air dry them.

Got an Ellgin 1785 cam and lifter set for about 100 bucks from Northern Auto parts. It's a copy of the old Crane 274H06 supposed to have a nice choppy idle, I got it because it should work well with my Vortec heads and their puny .450 lift.

Bottom end all put together. Bores were in great shape so I left them standard, that way I have a couple of rebuilds in it.

Here it sits as of now, installed pan, timing cover and vortec heads. Still have to order an intake, install lifters, pushrods, rocker arms and fuel pump rod.

Has anyone had good experience with Summit brand intake manifolds? I can get one of those for better than 100.00 cheaper than an Edelbrock, thinking of going for it.
