Has anyone run larger tires in the rear of there G-Body? I was thinking of running 245/60 R15 in the front and 255/60 R15 in the rear. Just wondering if anyone has any advise. Thanks!

i think its too big. you will be running 27.05 in the back.

You might want to do a search, there should be a ton of posts on this. Generally, 235-60-15s are considered to be about the biggest you can go in the front, and 245-60-15 is pretty common in the rear, but some people run larger than this.

Ok, good to know. Thanks for the help!

235/60/15 up front is common and normally about max. 255/60/15 is common on the back and still fits well with a 15x7 rim. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... &tab=Specs
IMO its either ideal to run 235/60/15 all the way around for the ability to rotate. Or If you want a better more musclecar look and traction jump over the 245 in the rear to the 255 so that you have enough stance and size difference to get the musclecar look.

BTW the 27" tall in back is not a problem in fact its more ideal with the 3.73s that he has in the 442. Taller tire longer wider bigger footprint is better traction and he has got the gear and the torque with the 403. I used 275/60s but I had my rear 442 rims widened to 15x8s. Hey Chevytruc you need to puts some pics of that 403 powered 442 in your photos here. Check out my 442 pics by clicking the little camera icon.

Thanks. Those pics happen to be 26 tall 235/60/15 and a 29" tall 255/70/15s. I had planned to frame notch for a 29 tall 295/65/15 drag radial as 29" provided the optimum gearing for the Cadillac WOT shift points and 3.73s. It would have had me crossing the 1/4 stripe at 5,000 rpm and 115 mph making the most of my gearing. Sadly life interrupted and I never got it done.

I actually didn't care for the looks of that combo to pull off the 29" in the rear I should have ran either a 26.9" 215/70 or a 27.5 tall 225/70/15 up front. I loved the 235/60/15 with the 275/60/15 and 3.42s with my Cadillac in the 88 before it was wrecked and the 442 was bought. Since the 442 came with the 3.73 and putting 29" tires made for slightly better gearing and traction I decided to try it. Had I got her frame notched and setup with the 225/70 & 295/65 I think it would have looked great.

Lol my buddy thought I was a hog because I had three 8.5 posi rear ends two with 3.42s & one with the 3.73.

Ha ha, all those poor guys running 7.5s, and you were kind of the 8.5 barron. 😀 It's a rational sort of thing to do when you've spent time actually looking for one. Kinda makes me wonder what percentage of original 8.5s is currently sitting around unused/uninstalled.

I run 225/60/15s on the front and 255/60/15s on the rear with 15x7 ralles. When I get my 15x8s for the rear im planning on going to a 275/60 in the rear. My only regrets is the 225s in the front, they look puny and I definatley will go 235s next time.

Thanks for all the great information everyone. Dog, I will be sure to post some pics of the 403 in my 442. I'm currently in the process of restoring it. The car is stripped, engine out, floor cut out and it's heading to soda blasting this week. Should be finished up in about a month.
