I've been looking all over for some good doors (2dr car) for my race/Pro Street car my son and I are working on. Very hard to come by in Canada.
I come across and ad on Kijiji 10min from my house, a 2dr 1981 Malibu V8, trade for 4wheeler/dirt bike. I call him and ask how much cash and comes back 2K firm so I go look at the car.
The car has sat for 5 years, It's not running ( he lost the keys and tried to drill the cylinder) frame and floors are toast, quarters are rusty, interior is junk and half removed, one of those temp. coveralls fell on the car and caved in the roof...But the doors are MINT!!! Plus I'm planning to swap a V8 into the Iraqi Taxi so it has all the V8 parts I'll need for that.
I offer him 750 for the car and he laughs at me. A week later he calls me back and says 1000 and come and get it. So I buy the piece of junk and drag it home. I figured if I get it running, someone might give me a couple hundred for the 305.
It has headers & duals, Edelbrock carb, aftermarket gauges, so I'm thinking someone spent money on it once. Maybe they swapped out the motor??? I clean off the Casting numbers and it turns out it's a 1978 L48 350 vette engine. COOL!!! Not a powerhouse but way better than a 305! A battery, little gas, hot wire the coil and starter...It runs PERFECT, not a noise out of this thing! get her on the hoist and it has a new th350 and converter in it too! No posi...Can't have everything.
Now I have good doors for the race car, all the parts and good motor for the Taxi GOOD DEAL.
