what is the biggest tire that i can go with on my 84 regal without any interference?

With what rim? 14x6, 15x7, 15x8, 16x8 etc. Regardless assuming backspacing is ideal it comes down to tire height and section width.
I know you can run at least up to 27 tall up front with a section width of at least 9.5". I use a 235/60/15. In the rear you can run at least 27 " tall with a section width of 12.2" 28" tall with a section width of 11" or 29" tall with a section with of 10.2. Slightly larger may fit depending on backspacing and some variance from car to car. Those are 295/50/15, 275/60/15, and 255/70/15. With a small frame notch you can easily run 295/65/15 a 29" drag radial and I have seen 315s but than may have had fender wheelwell clearencing etc.

great answer!

I started to try and explain how to measure the backspace etc you will need, but if he just has a stock rear, there are plently of combos for him to decide from...

i'm looking at 15x7 american racing torque thrusts. im new to the g body cars so i dont really know

you'll have more than enough room for just 15x7's, I just had 27.5" tall tires in the back of my 78 mc and they cleared. I think around 26" (215/65/15) is what you'd probably wanna run though.

Get 15x7 up front 15x8 rear. 235/60/15 stock height for performance gbodys with a 275/60/15 in the rear.

ok thanks for the help

Are you sure you have those sizes right? I just pulled 15x7s and 15x8s off my monte and they were 215/65/15, and 235/65/15, 275 is huge for an 8 inch rim, you're gonna have a ton of bulge. I've got 295's on my 15x10's...

235s are fine on 7 and 8 inch rims. usually 7 inch rims run 215s, 8s run 245s and 9s run 275s (thats what ive found on the majority of stock gm rim and tire combos)

275/60R15 is fine on an 8 inch wheel. most of the tire manufacturers give the actual measurements on an 8 inch wheel for a 275. 275/60R15 is the biggest tire you can fit on the rear with no notch and 4" backspacing. 3.5" is very close to the outer lip,and 4.5 will need a spacer. i run 4" backspacing with an 8 inch wide wheel and have a rolled lip with no inside or outside contact.
