Yep I have run 15x7 rim & 235/60/15s on the front and 15x8 rim with 275/60/15s on the rear of three different gbodys. No scrub on any of them. An 87 GN an 88 Cutlass and an 87 442.
 
It has way more to do with the backspacing on the rim than the tire width anyways. I've got 15x10s with stock backspacing, and 295/50/15s and they don't rub at all and they line up perfectly with the fender. As long as your backspacing isn't huge, then you won't have any clearance issues.
