This is a question for all those who have changed their body mounts or thought about it and didnt.

I have to check them all around but I know 1 is broken in the right rear right behind the wheel.

I am having a 10 point cage put in the next couple of weeks. so the body mounts are pretty much pointless at that point.

I have no body alignment issues or anything like that now.

So do I change them or leave them? The soonest i can get the cage done is about 4 weeks and I have the money and the free time. Im just worried about it becoming too much of a project.

For those have done it. other then soaking it with PB blaster or the like for days on end do you suggest using and impact gun or elbow grease?

any other tips?

im like 90% going to do them but still hesitant on it

They are not useless. But at this point with a cage you could go solid mounts. Because with a cage if welded to frame like its suppost to be then body patched and welded at point where cage goes through body you pretty much make the car a stiff piece of steel. At this point the body mounts other then keeping the body attached at its reforced mounting points are not takeing any vibration or shock from road abuse anymore everything is felt through the car. Go solid or urethane while body is still able to be moved from frame. Once cage is in not going to be easy.

I would think you would just caulk around the holes made for the cage to go through the body  No point in making your car annoying to drive. As long as the cage is welded to the frame, its going to do it job. It doesn't have to be welded to the body

Its going to be a 10 point cage welded to the frame. the rigidity that is created by the body and the mounts is just for the body alignment for the most part.

I am going to do it. I got a month to get it done. thats more then enough time for me just worried if I run into problems such as rot or what ever.

Im not going to spend the money for the solid mounts. going to use the Energy suspension ones.

I would replace them...and as for removing the body bolts...i would stick with good ol elbow greese and just grab a big ratchet..using an impact gun is too easy to snap a bolt...trust me, i know...with a ratchet you can "feel" what the bolt is doing...if the bolt doesn't want to turn, cut or melt the old bushing out of the way and try heating up the bolt to help break it loose...good luck

the solid mounts TNT motorsports has are priced about the same as a set of poly's from Energy Suspension.

Chevy2480 is spot on correct, good advice.

If the bolts break taking them out, who cares? Cut the floor pan above the body mount, get the cage nut out. Put your new body mount in, new bolt thru the hole and use a washer and nut to bolt the body back down. Then patch the floor. After the cage is in, it won't matter if the body mount is stock or just a bolt and nut

Anything to make the body/frame/cage a one piece unit, the better

I had a few of those cage nuts just break loose and spin when I did my body mounts. So I plasma cut holes above them in the floors and after I removed them I used 2" x 2" - 1/4" thick flat washers with a hole in the center then I welded nuts to the washers for the new bolts and then welded the washers to the floor. After I welded the floor shut I would still be able to get my body mount bolts out without ever worrying about them spinning.
