Earlier tonight I started to search on a new flywheel for the Monte as the one I had in the car has a wear ring with just enough of a step down from the rest of the face of the flywheel. The best budget deal is the Luk for under $60 (under $70 shipped.) But local I could cut it for under $50. I have an extra but it is a marine p/n & waves more than a flag in the wind (never surfaced.) I would like to keep an original flywheel but new "should be" flat & ready to go for the engine/transmission install in the frame. There is no heat damage just the wear ring & the thickness seems to be very close to the average measurement on the marine flywheel using both of their outer diameter. I gotta spend money anyways so I wonder if the Luk would be better than cutting an original GM.

there's no heat damage and all i'd cut it re use it.i agree about having the other one cut and ready just in case too

I always have the new ones balanced So either way it will cost you.

Got the flywheel cut this morning. Sweet deal, $20.:banana::banana::banana: So now its but the quest of putting the engine & trans is held up as my cherry pickers ram is not holding good pressure. 😡 So ether its too cold (about 45 deg F in the garage) or age. But on the plus side, getting everything out I found a forgotten spare clutch fork so now I have a complete spare bell housing.

Did you check to make sure the hydraulic fluid was full first?
