I've got a 1984 elco with a 350 . It has a turbo 350 in it too. I'm hearing a knocking noise at idle and when I start driving, around 45mph to 65 I get a vibration. After 65 it goes away. I also notice if I mash the pedal at takeoff, it vibrates too. I'm also noticing oil leaking from around that area. And its motor oil, not transmission fluid. Any ideas? Thanks.

Converter sounds like its going bad had the same thing happen. Also vibrated at certian rpms. Or its a possibility your flexplate broke around the bolts holding it to crank. The oil is most likely the rear main seal going.

Sounds like a cracked flex plate ... I wouldn't run it anymore untill you figure it out

Ok guys thanks for all the info. I've got this thing jacked up in the air, so I can figure this mess out. I'm gonna start with checking. Out the bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate.
