i just dropped in a brand new chevy 350 crate engine and i just got the exhaust done... i had the timing adjusted according to the exhaust. the engine is rated at 365 horsepower with like 400 something lbs. of torque. notice that i don't feel horsepower at the rear end like i should. now i am going to get a posi locker unit sometime down the road and i also want to change my gears in the rear end. Could this be why i dont feel what i am supposed to feel....i feel as if when i hit it im supposed to feel my head being pulled back into the seat....but i don't. I also wonder if it could be my distributor. i have a pro billet....not an MSD. Maybe if i get the whole ignition kit with the coils it will make it better also. Somebody of this knowledge help...Appreciated Greatly!

try a posi 3.73 or better for that "ow my neck is breaking!" feel.

that gear ratio is way to low(numericaly) you may need a higher stall too, try to track down those cam specs if possible

i remember wen i switched to a posi and 3.73s it felt liek i added 50 horsepower...

since i just added this new exhaust to the engine....is there any way that the exhaust could have something to do with the way the car boggs down....If im at a stand still and just punch it....it feels and sounds like the engine is being smothered....like it goes and cuts back then go again. Could the catalytic converters have something to do with this...could the exhaust guy have done something wrong.

1st don't drive it hard for the first 1-3k miles. they need some time for everything to seat, especially the rings.
2nd you won't feel any real force/torque with that bad a rear gear. once you get it over 3.0 you'll notice the difference.
3rd fully tune the carb and then redo the ignition timing again. i prefer to tune the carb off of a vac gauge.
it sounds like the carb isn't putting in enough fuel when you tromp on it. it's most likely the accelerator pump.
