would like to replace my transmission cooler line on my 87 cutlass with a th350 .thinking of using braided line, they seem to be a little ....expensive has anyone tried using rubber hose tran line as an opposition with any success or is this a bad ideal .i'm sure there is a post covering this topic just don't feel like reading through all of them to find the answer.

You can do it, but if it ever rips, tears or wears your screwed

I wouldnt use a long length of rubber hose like that on anything

2x pre flared brake lines from the parts store and a $20 HF tubing bender will get you there for not much $$. You can figure out your bends with copper household wire or coat hangers

I wouldn't call it a bad idea.. definitely comes with it's own challenges..
Need hose that's can handle ~300psi and cover it in protective sleeve/convoluted tubing to prevent rub through.. also have to go little extra on mounting to keep from hose flopping around.. either way I run -6 or 3/8" hose/tubing

our cars don't have that much pressure in the trans cooler lines. trans cooler pressure is not more than 25psi.

i agree. napa sells bulk trans cooler hose, but the more hard line you have, the less rubber hose there is to chaff and leak.

In park pressure 50-200psi and upwards of 275psi in reverse for a th350 th400
Especially when you get on it hard..
Almost All fluid from pump goes through the TC then through the cooler..

But what do I know....
I've pressure tapped both port and cooler lines on 200/350/400/4L80/Allison

I second the above. Bought the inline tube version from them on ebay for $39, despite having a roll of tubing, fittings, and a bender.

Forget trying to get a decent looking set if you have to fabricate them while the engine and trans are in the car already. Set i bought required VERY minor tweaking at radiator end, and I installed them after the engine and trans went in.
