I'm lookin into a trans for my 350. It will either be the turbo 350, 400, or the 700. The factors are ease of installation, durability, and the better compliment to the mortor and rear. From what I've been hearing the 700 would better suit getting a lower rpm on the e-eay which is very important, but may be able to matched by some mods to the 350 or 400? What mods is he question though. I would go with the 700 but don't know if it is a bolt and go or a long drawn out process. All three are available. I'm also considering a turbo 400 but I'm trying to avoid having to get help to bolt it to the block. Any suggestions? Also I plan on using a 3:42 to a 3:73 rear end.

I guess that it depends what you are going to use it for....

I think that a 2004r will bolt up to an olds or a chevy. It also has a low first gear and overdrive.

Weekend Warrior type usage. It's going in a g-body. I'm going with one of the three. Just want to get the one with the least bolting issues and the better combination.

Well with the 700r4 you will have to modify or buy a new crossmeber and shorten or buy a new driveshaft. And deal with setting up thre tv cable and lock-up converter.

any reason you won't consider the 200-4r? it's at least as good as the 700, if not better.
regardless, with a 3.XX rear gear the final ratio with a 3spd is going to suck on the highway. plus the 400 is a heavy duty trans meant to go in trucks and very heavy cars. it's overkill in most situations.

A 200r4's availabilty isn't to good in my area, but yeah Im going to look into it. Do you think I'd be cheating myself using the turbo 350. I just want to keep the highway drivability as close to stock as possible without sacrificing performance, so the 400 is probably out. I could spend no more than 350 on a unit which probably eliminates a new one. The turbo 350's are the most available and least exspensive. Another question is whether or not my application would be better served wih a 3 speed. Wouldn't a 3 cause higher rpm's on a highway run. Is there a 4 speed of the trans we're mentioning. Thanks for the comments so far. Hope you had a good New Year's.

Was the 200-4r I direct bolt on for yours 350. I just found one for 175 out a SS MC

The 200-4R will bolt in place of the 350. you will need the 200-4R crossmember too.

the 200-4r and the 700r4 are both 4-speed overdrives. i have a 200-4r in my monte with 3.73 rear gears and the RPMs are under 2000 at 70mph. which makes for a nice comfortable drive. i think a 3spd puts it to almost 3k.
what was the original trans in the car? if it was a th350, then you'll need a new crossmember and TV cable for either the 700 or the 200-4r. but if you want a true dual exhaust you'll need a crossmember no matter what trans you have. other than that, the 700 or the 200 will bolt up with no problems, unless it's an LS block.

 Thanks for the help. Two more questions though. What would be a good price to pay for a cross member or could I get it done at a muffler shop. I do plan on using two mufflers. Again thanks
