I wanted to install a 5speed transmissions instead of the stock 4speed that came stock. The Ford T5 transmissions were easier to find and cheaper. So I picked one up and designed and created an adaptor for the Ford transmission to fit my 1979 Firebird.

Thanks for sharing your idea and the photos. That looks pretty cool. Your adapter plate looks to be well made. What kind of vehicle are you performing the transmission swap on? How does the thickness of the adapter plate affect the positioning of the input shaft, in relation to the pilot bearing and the rear of the crankshaft on the Pontiac engine?

I modified this to 1979 pontiac firebird with 301 block, going to put 350 soon. the input shaft stay the same because i compensate the distance to the pilot bearing with adapter thickness that why looks thick, and i used 1999 mustang pilot bearing same size OD jest have to mashinet back of the bearing sleeve litle bit . this adapter for long T5 input shaft 1994 and up...
thank you for asking
