getting a free th350 transmission, just wondering if i need a new crossmember or if this thing will fit correctly on the stock crossmember or am i in $200 for a new one?

Looking at the same swap in a 79 MC w/ 305 and 200 trans. Will I need a new crossmember, and if so, can you just pull one from a junk yard, or is it a custom piece? Also, can I use the oe driveshaft?

I think i answered part of my question. I see that the th350 was an option on my car, so i should be able to find one in a junk yard. That brings me to my next question. What cars can i pull the crossmember from? Are the 200 and 350 cm's the same?

If the car came with a TH200, than you can use the same crossmember and driveshaft. If it came with the 2004r, than you need a different crossmember and possibly a different driveshaft.

If you have a 200-4R you will need a new crossmember but the driveshaft will work just fine. If you have the 200 the crossmember will work with the 350 too

Yeah, i have the 3 speed 200. good to hear a th350 will bolt right up. that's what i'll go with.
