transmission dipstick

i cannot seem to be able able to get my transmission dipstick into the whole on the transmission,the best ive gotten it was about a quarter inch into the whole.is there some sort of a trick to this that i dont know about?i hope im not the only one this has ever happened to

Are you using an aftermarket tube or a stock one?

If you have the large, sleeve looking rubber seal, install the seal into the trans first, don't put it on the tube. Wipe a little fluid on it and it will slide right in.
