i posted this question up on the Camaro site i am apart of and nobody was to much help from me there cause the forum is dead so in turn i am going to ask you guys and see what you think.

So i am planning on getting back into a camaro either at the end of this summer or the end of the next one. I am just curious what you guys think. Alright so i am going to buy a 94-96 camaro and i think that my goal would be around 380-400hp all motor. My question is which transmission would be able to hold up longer? Which one would be more reliable? It won't be a daily driver so i don't care about manual vs automatic i enjoy both. SO which transmission has a better track record for holding together? Thanks guys

Oh and just to clarify i am not going to get rid of the bu, this is just another project is all haha

T-56 hands down. It's a great transmission and manual >Automatic. The biggest problem with the drivetrain in the 4th gen F body is not the transmission , it's the 7 5/8 rear axle. Yes, the same axle we have on G bodies also haunts the Camaro.

yeah i know that the rear is also a weak point but i just wanted to not have to swap out the transmission due to a little more hp. Don't know why the camaro guys couldn't help me but i knew somebody on here could help, thanks

The T56 is rated at 450 lb-ft of torque capacity in the 90s GM F-bodies. I am not sure about the auto trans. Hope this helps.

yep my bad you are correct it is the 4L60E
