Ive pulled the old 200R4 transmission off my 350 while it was still mounted in my 80 malibu, pulled the motor out with a engine hoist. today I went ahead and started mating up the 200r4 transmission from a 86 MCSS and it needed about a 1/4" more together so I thought I would just tighten up the bolts till it comes together. the aluminum housing on the passenger side let go when I was tightening.

There is anothe bolt hole just 2" below that so I thought perhaps there was already a hairline crac so I loosened all the bolts and started tightening again but it jus doesnt feel like its going to go in the last 1/16" at the bottom without breaking that aluminum housing area..on the other side now

Has anyone seen this kinda thing cause I wanted to put the motor in the El Camino this weekend but its still out by a bit on the lower drivers side at the botton and I dont want to tighten it up anymore

x2! Had this happen on my TH400. I cracked it on 2 bolt holes but managed to realize it before it got bad.

Going to pull it apart and see whats up, hope I didnt screw it.

Ya I needed to turn the TC 1/4 turn and it popped in
