Transmission Identification

Hey Im in the process of swapping a complete drivetrain from a 1981 Chevy Caprice I got everything bolted in my monte carlo but i looked at the trans and it doesn't have a place for a vaccumm? Can someone tell me what type trans ccame in the 81 caprice's and what do I need to do to get this thing working in my 81 MC

I think you might have the 700r4 in that Caprice...If that's the case there isn't a vaccume line on it.....Only thing you will have is the TV cable... 8)

Whats the difference between the th350 and 700r4

This will help you identify what transmission you have.....I 700r4 has a 4th gear o/d and the Th 350 doesn't. http://www.maliburacing.com/auto_tranny_id.htm

The 700r4 wasn't around in 81', assuming the it's stock. Might be a 200 metric.
