I've got a slow but steady drip from around the fill tube/kickdown cable area. Everything seems tight, but the weird thing is that the leak isn't constant.

I've had this problem before, but I thought it went away on its own. But, from that experience and this one, it seems that the leak starts only when the car's been sitting for about a week. If I drive it less often than weekly, it starts dripping but if I drive it more often it doesn't. I use the Regal as a pleasure/backup car, and with the way gas prices have been I've been more creative about how not to use a car at all. Usually I drive it once or twice a week and the pavement stays dry but I haven't driven it for about ten days now and there's a little stained section of pavement under it now.

Why would it leak when unused? That doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

It's probably a very slow leak, and usually does not make it's presence known because it does not sit still. My power steering has a similar leak, and now there is a puddle where the car has sat since November.

I guess it's time to get a jug of Dexron III...

a trans leak when sitting is usually the pan gasket. mine has the same leak, going onto the linkage and all.
