i will be transporting a new malibu to my home hopefully soon, on a car dolly. i must remove the drive shaft so i dont ruin the trans.

question 1
i have a 229 v-6 81 malibu, with a 3 speed auto that im scrapping. what trans is in the 81 malibu?

question 2
if i take the yoke off the drive shaft from the 81 malibu, will it fit as a plug into the back of a turbo 350 trans that is in the car i am picking up?

if not i can buy a plug, but im only using it once. i would rather make something work.

Why not disconnect the drive shaft on the new car and hang it securely underneath the car leaving plugged into the trans?.

Alternatively wrap some plastic bags round the tailshaft secured with strong elastic and duct tape, it's worked for me on a number of cars.

Roger.
