transmission question

what is the easiest way to tell if i have a short tail or a long tail? i have a 350/th350. will a 350 from a 73 lesabre bolt right up? i have a 78 cutlass. thanks

Any help? I'm trying to pick up the transmission today.

Measure the tail shaft extension on the back of the trans.

I think they are either 4" for short, 6" for med, and like 9" for long.

Chances are that one out of a full-size LeSabre is gonna be a medium or a long tail...
