Transmission support brace question

I have the extension from G-force right now. My end plan is to use a 200-4R after I can afford a built one to handle my 455. For the time being I'll use a TH400 so I don't have to buy a crossmember twice. If I wasn't dumping money into the engine I'd buy the crossmember now to confirm how it bolts in.

I'm assuming you mean the transmission cross member. You'll need a cross member for the 200-4R trans. They're different from the the TH350 type cross member. Having the frame extension is a good thing, especially with your car being an earlier G-body that did not have the built in frame extension on the left side.
As for x-members, you can try Iceman. He makes a quality product. The type he makes now is a tubular unit compared to the old G-force type member. http://www.maliburacing.com/iceman/
Or you can take the one out of your parts car and modify it to accommodate duals.

I see that G-body-vet has got it covered.. and is absolutely correct. The TH400 unit can be used with the 200-4R. So the Jeg's x-member might be a good choice.

Thanks Logroof79.
I just bought the crossmember with the extension off ebay from Rick (Iceman).
It is a little different but will work fine.

I hear you about putting money into the engine.
Mine is only a 383 but should push about 425hp. I have my 200-4R built by a semi-local shop with all the go fast stuff. Lets hope it hold up. I didn't budget for things like steering hoses and transmission crossmembers. I figured between the two cars I should have everything I need. ha....nope.

The little stuff always comes back to bite you in the *ss right! I'm not even bothering with a budget or timeline at this point. I'll buy what I need as I can afford it, then it gets done when it gets done. I've "slapped together" many cars in the past and I'd like to do this one the right way the first time. Shortcuts usually always lead to problems from my experience.

Very True,

my thought was to build a budget motor but I threw that out the window almost immediately.
I don't want to add it all up but I know I have over $8000 in the motor and transmission.
Shhh, don't tell my wife.
