Got an 1984 Monte with a 305. Swapping in a 350 and was thinking about what to do with the transmission. Haven't looked so I don't know what it's got for a transmission but it's a stock auto that shifts on the tree. I'd like to put in a th350 but I don't know whats all involved in that and I'm a little concerned about switching it to a floor shift auto cuz I dont know what that'll do to the shift indicator on the dash. Thanks guys.

The shift indicator on the dash has a wire that is clipped to the shift bowl on the column, no changes needed. If you put a floor shifter in it you can drive the pin out that holds the column shift lever in and let it go. If you want to get rid of the boss on the shift bowl you will have to replace the column or at least the bowl.
