I am in the process of selecting headers but I need some info on what headers to choose. I have a stock 1986 Oldsmobile 307ci Vin 9. (Might upgrade to 350 in future.)
I will be removing all the smog equipment off and I dont plan on running a catalytic converter.
So if someone can fill me in on what the Primary Tubing sizes are for and the collector diameter is obviously for the downpiping right and if there is anything else I should know.

Headers <$250
Downpiping 3" or 3.5"?
Muffler I like how the Hooker AeroChamber.
Any help and suggestions are welcome.

Most headers for the street have a 2½" or 3" collector. Being a 307 you probably wouldn't need anything more than a 2½", which is usually the collector size on shorties, full length headers are typically a 3" collector.

I have hooker competitions on my El Camino, installing full pypes system with Violator mufflers today. I'll let you know how it sounds.

I pretty much did all the things your talking about no smog or cat, i chose flowtech headers and dual hooker aerochambers with an h pipe, 2.5in piping and turn downs. Heres some clips to get listen on how it will sound.

Overall i like it a lot, a little quite but hopefully once i get a 403 in there that will change. And if you you want to see some pictures click on the bottom and look at my thread.

Sounds pretty good for a small cube, low compression engine.

The 2nd clip though..... I'd get a new tach, that's wasn't 6,000 RPMS. That thing bounces around more than Pam Andersons juggs. :wax:

Your car sounds pretty nice I like the idle to be on the quiet side and WOT to sound deep and louder.

Does the H-Pipe make a difference in sound or performance because I might just go with straight pipes out the back of the car.
3" downpiping incase I upgrade the motor later in the future.

I would suggest that you also look at getting the headers with Ceramic Coating. I know it cost more but it is well worth it. I have a set of Hooker shorty headers and they do a really good job of keeping under hood temps down. They also look great and helps prevent rusting.
