Turn signal flasher

nOOb here and proud new owner of a 85 SS. Been 8 years since i sold my 87 aerocoupe and i was ready for another MC. My question is about the flasher for the turn signal that plugs in right under the dash by the brake on the fuse box. I got the correct one from the store and it doesnt fit snug it just falls out. Is there a connector on the back side that im missing? I noticed that there was not a flasher in it all when i acquired the car

Can you see if there are contacts in there that might just be worn out and not holding on the the flasher tight enough?

Depending on the year, the turn signal flasher is not actually located in the fuse block, but plugged in at the end of a harness under/in/behind the radio "pod" in the center of the dash...
