I took my piece out from under my column and went to put the other one in. I noticed that the one for the non a/c vent control is to big. Is it because its from another car or does it have to do with the dash?

If you're talking about the tan colored one yes looks like it's from a Malibu/Camino/Monte. Is the blue one out of your Cutlass?

I have the same problem. The one I have looks exactly like yours and I got it out of an El Camino

Its black but yes its out of my cutlass. So will the controls fit in one from a Cutlass?

sorry haven't got my glasses on 😀

I haven't tried one from a Cutlass...best bet would be to remove the lap vent from you're piece and try the vent pulls...it looks like the opening is pretty close in size.

I read on another thread that each division (buick olds pontiac and chev) all had different under column peics that don't interchang. So as I understood we would have to find one from a cutlass that that had the factory a/c delete option.

Will try that if I cant find the right one from a Cutlass.

If you have trouble finding one from a Cutlass let me know. I know where there is a 78-80 2dr Cutlass without AC. It's an hour away so I'd need time to plan a trip out there.

Luckily I know where one is I am going to pick up the rest of the car this weekend. Its got a whole non a/c setup on it and its from a cutlass so we will see.

That is correct that all 4 (Buick/Olds/Chev/Pontiac) each had different lower dash vent assemblies for their respective dashes.

I swapped a non a/c system out of an El Camino into my 442.
Here's how the Chevy-style vent cables attach to the Olds a/c dash piece with the vent removed.
It's not perfect but it works, and at a glance you'd never know.
