Bad Vibration Under Acceleration At Any Speed

I vote 5 or 6 speed. These cars deserve the man pedal! 🤘🏽

Fairly easy switch, plus I have an empty case at the house if you need one. Or can get you one from local trans shop if you need one.

Well, I think for the time being, my buddy has an extra trans from his 82 monte, a 700R4 that he said I can use. Then I can swap the gears in the th350’s, and start to gather parts for the manual swap. Cuz I agree with all of you, a 5 or 6 speed manual is the way to go. It will bring this monster into a new world. So if anyone has stuff for sale, lmk! And any advice on the brand of trans would be great. Thinking of looking into a tremec trans. Have heard good things about those.

IMO you have already spent the money to buy your built 350 trans and everything needed to set it up.
I agree with 78Delta88 to just put a SFI bell housing on your 350.
IMO this will fix your current issue and you will be road ready quicker instead of going back and forth changing everything and as a bonus the new bell housing will be safer.
JW and FTI also offer SFI bell housings for the 350

Exactly what happened on my old El Camino https://gbodyforum.com/threads/advice-needed-for-new-engine.90761/post-977146 .

The driveshaft twisted & ripped apart taking out the 7.5" rear end, the trans x-member (modded stock unit for duals), the exhaust, & the bellhousing ear to ear.
Everyone likes to read about carnage but I think that's the wrong thread you linked...unless I didn't read far enough into it.

So many decisions...the 700R4 will bolt in IF you have all the right parts. It will require a different/modified crossmember and a different length driveshaft. I like the JW bell idea unless you can't tolerate the 3.73s buzzing on the expressway. Same sentiments on the xmember and DS length converting to a manual transmission...

That was just to highlight that my linked mild build also twisted the driveshaft breaking everything from the transmission case back. EVERYTHING.

Total side bar; I've been busy getting the parade cars ready and other things and haven't been on G Body Forum much lately, but this is why I suggested uni-bell.

1.) 700R4 prone to cracking as shown in photo.

2.) 4L60E 4x4 unit cracked near extension housing.

I buy these as cores and use for parts. Some things can be fixed, but sometimes not wise.
