Under dash A/C system

It would have to be a universal unit for street rod applications with combined heat and A/C capability. Pretty much what is shown and indicated on that link.

I have an idea, might be a long shot though. The 88-97? silverado's have an under dash system. By surprise, I was under the hood of my truck and noticed that I only have an A/C accumulator in the engine bay. The rest of the ac system is located under the passenger side dash. I'm not saying that it would be a complete bolt up, but I think with the right know-how/fab skills, it may be possible! I'll try to get pics of the ac system in the truck later and post them up. And yes, I know it wouldn't be a completer "under dash a/c system" but hell, its an idea nonetheless!

You must have a compressor, a condenser and some hoses and tubes also ? ?

Yes, the compressor, hoses and accumilator is still under the hood, the rest is in the truck.

recheck that. i've worked on plenty of 88-97 GM trucks/cars and never seen a self contained AC system. they always have the compressor, condenser, receiver/dryer in the engine bay and the evaporator inside the truck. some of the suburban/tahoes had a rear system that had an extra R/D and evaporator though.

agree with above post... two hoses go into through the firewall, but a friend of mine did that, looked like a black box, mounted behind his glove box...

I never said it was "completely" self contained, but with the right fab work, it can be mounted any where by not having the receiver/dryer in the engine bay.
