Best thing is to avoid exposure to salt altogether. Even the best coatings only last so many hours against it.
That would require not driving, which sadly isn't an option. :?

I don't drive the Cutlass year around, but I do drive a F350 all year and since the day it was new I spray used motor oil on it twice a year. In the fall i hot water pressure wash it with a spray down of Dawn dish soap, I pull the taillights, all four door panels, fender liners, and tailgate cover. When it dries I use one of them cheap sandblaster guns to spray about two gallons of oil any place I can get it. Then in the spring I do it all over again, I have done this since I bought it new and when it is clean underneath it still looks brand new.

One of the most important things about putting an undercoating on is making sure everything is very dry, if you spray that stuff over moisture and water it traps it and holds it against the steel and will cause more rust, then once the metal is gone and the coating falls away its begging more more moisture to make its way under the coating

It is a paradox. That is why it is a good idea to have a winter beater or move to someplace that is warm enough that doesn't salt the roads. I have seen salt rust out metal doors on buildings and turn sidewalks into powder. It soaks through concrete and rusts out rebar and is plant food for poison ivy so it causes problems in the summer too. Road salt just has alot of bad side effects.

Every year on our TBSS: http://www.krown.com/

Damn thing is pretty much rust-free despite being a 4 season salt-belt car... and most corrosion happens in the non-Winter months when the humidity is up.
