From what I can gather it may be specific to 1981 Calais models. I pulled a rear seat from a donor car and have kind of found myself really liking this fabric.
Does anyone know how this fabric/color combo was listed from GM and if it is available anywhere?

Any info you have....tia

It appears to be Hobnail cloth, if so it was optional in late seventies, early eighties Firebird/Trans Am. If that is it some of the restoration houses would be able to supply it, but it won't be cheap. Yep, I've been in the upholstery business for 35 years.

Thanks Randy, that's really close but not quite the one I don't think.
I have an RPO of 26G= cloth navy (G)(94) and another of 26I = Interior trim navy (I)(94) but can't find a 'name' for the fabric.

Another pic from the cell...

Edit...it's more of a diamond pattern than a square pattern

That's a better pic, the diamond pattern was used in the Calais, some Buicks and entry level Cadillacs, various colors and years around 1980. I don't know of anyone repopping it but you might find some leftover. I had that in an old Detroit original fabrics sample book many years ago.

probably any upholstery shop could do it, but its gonna cost a wad.

I dnt believe that material was used in all the '81 calais tho, just a select few..I have some in mine out of a '81 calais and they are the more flush material with the little chrome square buckel on the seat back.

NOT ANY SHOP CAN DO IT BECAUSE THE FABRIC IS GOING TO BE HARD TO FIND UNLESS YOU GET LUCKY! MY DE LEO BOOK SHOWS IT AS "1979-80-81 GM, VARIOUS PLATFORMS AND TRIM PACKAGES."
Sorry about the caps had the caps lock button on! 😳

SMS Fabrics will probably be your best bet. They specialize in obsolete automotive textiles and vinyl.

Detroit Body Products has been buying obsolete fabric and vinyl from automotive manufacturing companies since the early 1930's. I don't know if they are still in business, but they do have this website with contact info:http://www.detroitbodyproducts.com/index.asp

I don't know this company, but they show past-model OEM fabrics: http://www.perfectfit.com/

If these companies don't have what you are looking for, be sure to ask them where you might find your material; it's a small industry and they would probably know who has the material if it is out there.
Good luck!

Ok thanks guys, I am waiting on a reply from SMS and I did come across a sample of Detroit 8474 fabric at Midwest, but not 100% sure as it looks to have some red flecks in it, but that could be the pic.
Will contact them and Detroit and see what I come up with and report my findings.

If you trip across any other info, let me know 8)

Try wwworiginalauto.Com the have a lot of the left over material GM used, you can buy it by the yard just like a fabric shop and the will ship it to your door.
