I blew a head gasket a year ago. I then replaced the head gasket after I had my heads cleaned up. A month ago I decided to hook back up all the hoses wiring etc and fire it up. My distributed marks have disappeared so I'm sure that's off. The car sputters when I pour gas dorm the carb or use starter fluid. I thought maybe my fuel pump went bad so I replaced it. Same deal i cant smell fuel. I have no idea how to get my timing set it's been 15+ years since I've done that. I added fresh fuel to the tank and some Lucas oil. Now what do I do?

back to the basics find TDC on the compression stroke for # 1 cylinder make sure the distributor rotor is pointing at the number one plug wire and that your make sure you have the firing order correct. That should get you close enough to run. Then buy a timing pointer if you dont already have one and either disconnect the vacuum advance and plug it, or disconnect the ccc plug and set it for the right base timing for your engine.
