Just a few min ago njtileguy posted a picture of under his hood. The switch thingey .... Is right beside the radiator overflow bottle. Little black square box. What is this???

That's the MAP sensor

What is it for and what does it control, taking out a 307 and putting 455 in delegating all smog stuff and computer.
 
If you are removing the computer, it can go as well. It will be apart of the large 30 plus wire bundle that comes out from the firewall under the AC/heater box.
 
Yes, got that hanging out now, was just wondering what it was and what is for. Didn't want to take something out that I would need later.
 
The sensor circled in the photo is the barometric pressure sensor. The MAP sensor is on the intake behind the carb. The sensors are aesthetically identical but have different part numbers stamped on them.
Fender mounted - BARO sensor
Intake mounted - MAP sensor

As discussed in your other post, make sure you know what your new engine needs to run correctly before ripping things out. I get ahead of myself often and learned this the hard way many times.
