follow the above advise from airboatgreg, he's on the right track. the vacuum ball you have pictured is a vacuum reservoir used for your climate control and/or your cruise control. it has nothing to do with your power brake concern.

What year is the car and which engine?
Me? 1985 Buick Regal that had a 231 V6 in it. Now has a 350 Buick, and I am looking to hook all that jazz back up.

I was actually referring to the OP. I should have specified that. I wonder how close your '85 Regal is to my '86 Monte Carlo?

Whoops. Lol. But like all G bodies, 100% the same and 100% different.

My ‘85 Regal has a different vacuum reservoir. It’s mounted on passenger side on top of the wheel well. Has two ports, one for the purple line and for the black line going to manifold. Can’t find one like mine, guess a round one would work, would just have to mount it in another place. Here is a pic of my reservoir.

A round one will work or go to Ford and they make a vacuum check valve though you could have an issue of HVC changing modes on a long hill

Put in place of vacuum reservoir. The Ford ones had 3 ports and you just blocked off 1 port
