If it has a different transmission in it, and different shifter, do you have the original? If so, that could make it worth it. V8s were abysmal performance-wise in the 80s and a non-turbo V6 was even worse. Not much though. My 82 Z28 had a hard time putting away my friend's 82 Berlinetta (V6 auto). But just barely. So the V6 may affect the price.

Ask whatever price you like, but as a few words of advice- if you put it up on an auction site, for everyone's sake, PLEASE clean and neaten up the engine bay if you want to attract more buyers. I've passed on many a car because it looks all clean and straight on top, but look under it and under the hood and it's not appealing. Doesn't have to be minty mint, but there's a 1/4" of dirt under your hood it seems. Get rid of that Hurst sticker, and scrub that crud out from under the hood. CLEAN it if you put it on BaT or any other site for that matter. CLEAN sells. Dirt smells.

I've seen it too many times that sellers get the car two-thirds clean, then stick a 15K asking price on the biggest ball of engine dirt in Minnesota and wonder why nobody is biting on it.

JMO.

I don't know anything about it. Just saw the add yesterday.

If you're talking about the flamed one, it's got rot in the door bottoms, a halfway- done color-changed interior, non-functioning A/C, a broken power seat, and the flames are painted on, which for me means you'd have to paint half the car to get them off. Also claims that it has the original 307 Olds, which to my knowledge was not available in the cutlass cruiser until 81.

He bought it a couple months ago here in OK, then after a couple of weeks started posting it for more in TX

I was interested until I started asking questions, just not close enough to my target/vision with all I'd need to change

That car is a great specimen for either a stock original time capsule or the perfect starting point for a clean tasteful street machine. Myself I would yank the V6 and saginaw in favor of a 396 with a wide ratio muncie. Throw in an 8.5 posi from a GN or H/O- 442 and a later Monte SS guage cluster and call it done.

I wonder if it was built in late 1980, like my 81 Delta 88 was and the seller is confused. It was built in 10/80 and actually a 1981 model. Not sure why anyone would choose a 307 if swapping. For the Malibu owner, aren't the 229 V6 easy to swap with a sbc, like a 3.8 to a Buick 350? Such a swap may actually bring more money. Good luck.
