This photo is both cool and kind of sad to look at. In the front, there is a Toyota, Mazda, and Honda; across the intersection there is a Datsun (Nissan). In fact, there are 28 vehicles in the picture and 12 I can identify for sure are imports. What is sad is this is just after America car build quality got so bad it opened the door for the imports. It is cool because of the type of imports (yes, there are VW Bugs), they're not just economy cars, I see a Honda Prelude, Datsun 280Z, Mazda RX-7, and Toyota Celica Supra.
I didn't get all the hoopla about imports taking over back then. You made good looking but crappy cars, and you got the consequences. I was in favor of having a mix of foreign and American cars, but I also like Saturn, whose original purpose was to conquer the imports in the economy car class. These shots with a variety of cars are my favorites.
