So I am guessing since you have never seen one do the majority think this would be a disadvantage using this body type even with some aero improvements.

Don't think it will make a difference on dirt. Asphalt, maybe, if it's not a short track

I agree with you and I have always asked the same question the the Vintage Modified and the body styles they use. You'd think the car in the top photo would be disadvantaged with the way the A pillar and the windshield is sitting compared to he car in the lower picture. The blue car actually won the championship and quite a few guys chose that body style so apparently they are not concerned.
