Newbie to the G-body here, driven an F-body for six years now. Got a 79 El Camino for cheap and wanna explore my options. I have a LSD out of a 4th gen F-body (7.5") and was wondering what the spline count on the G-bod rear was. also, i want to run 4th gen LT1 rear brakes and my old salad shooters. Would love any info on lifting this thing bout 4" suspension.

The 4th gen rear has 28-spline axles and is 64" wide axle face to axle face (no rotors)
The rims have a 6.5" backspace and are 8" wide. Was wondering what the max backspace anybody runs is?
I'm not at all scared of fab work. Maybe I could add 2.5" of axle tube and run em without spacers??

Anybody know where I can get a rear section of frame? mine is rotted off from the axle back... pretty much gone

your el camino rear is most likely a 26 spline.i may be wrong, but i think early 7.5 where 26 spline.many people has instilled the lt1 and ls1 brake on there cars,so the is alot of info on it here.not sure on the rims.

There's a fellow up in Canada that makes them, but I heard he's closing up shop soon.
There's a seller on eBay that always has a few pairs of clean originals up for sale.

Your stock rear is 26-spline. If you want to run your F-body carrier, you can just upgrade to some 28-spline GN axles.

I'm looking at the ebay frame horns given I may be able to get them cut to length and they are a little cheaper.

What would a fair deal be on a passenger door? mine has been hit and crunched pretty good. everything still works just crunched in.
