It is looking like I may just finally get paint on the Cutlass next week.... I hope. So, I am now looking at the assembly process and have turned to Ebay for some cheap, sound deadener goodness. Dynamat is out of the question because of the price, but the cheap alternatives Edead and Fatmat have caught my eye. Both are around $100 plus shipping for 100 sq ft, but the eDead gives you 120 sq ft for $100 with $10 less shipping cost. I think the edead is .05 mils thinner though, but it would give me enough to probably do most of the trunk as well. Anyhow, given the budgetary constraints, and that this is not a show or competition car, what would you choose? I will add that the car is also getting a layer of that rebonded scrap type sound deadener (like GM used) too once the rubber stuff is laid down first. I am replacing all of the old stuff as it gets quite stinky and contributes to old car smell.

Is it .05 mils thinner or 5 mils thinner? .05 is practically nothing.

One is 50 mils, the other 45 mils in thickness. There is also some 80 mils stuff, but it costs actual money and I don't want to spend a lot.

I guess i would go with the stuff that is a little bit thicker only because it will help with road noise, I do not currently have anything under mine and i wish that i did, oh well i can always do that later. But you should do it right the first time

Thicker would be better. You might be able to find some reviews to find the best and cheapest alternative to Dynamat.
