Long story short. My water pump had a leak. so i got a new/rebuilt one from summit. I even took the old one to match them. I only matched the bolt pattern :blam: . i get home and install the new one and guess what. The original pulley would not line up. I can place the pulley against the new pump but it rubs the ribs. It sits flush on the old pump. I didn't realize until after i installed everything that the new pump was shorter then the old one. can someone tell me the deal with these water pumps? one more thing that i noticed. After i installed the new one. there was alot of resistance..the blade on the inside was rubbing against the block plate and im pretty sure thats not normal.

From the looks of it..the leak was the result of too much RTV/failed gasket in a certain spot...i dont think there was anything wrong with the pump. I just wanted to get a new one..now, is it possible to reuse the old pump or should i just get the right new pump and just leave it at that?

The engine is 350 out of a 1970 delta 88.
here are a couple pics
New pump ID= 139501-224
Old pump ID= GG26

Usually the signs of a bad pump are water or rust marks coming out of wheep hole on bottom of pump
