I noticed a while ago in my low mile monte some wetness on the passenger floor mat. Yesterday after a big rain storm i again noticed a small puddle on the mat and picked it up to find a wet carpet.

what should i look into as far as source of this? cars a hardtop by the way.

Definitely look at the roof rail and door weatherstripping. Although it might be a low mile car, the weatherstripping is 30+ years old if it hasn't previously been replaced.

Another spot to look is the seal where the AC junk bolts to the firewall. Those get old and crusty as well allowing water to get in (my cutlass was leaking water in from there).

thanks for suggestions

seems to occur after rain. i think its gone on at least a few months. i really decided i needed to investigate the other day after a big rain storm when i saw a puddle on my mat.

i have the 85 style gm mats which are like a rubber material i wouldnt think it would absorb through. and the carpet under it seems wet but theres also a puddle on top in the center. not sure what that means.

its also garaged a lot so problem may have been around a lot and just not noticed
