So you put a non factory engine in a G....What color do you go with?Chevy orange?Pontiac Blue?Oldsmobile Gold? What and Why do you paint your engine x?Why not paint a chevy,or pontiac red if they are in a olds or buick?

Generic Black. I have a Chevy 350 in my Olds, so I decided what better color to paint the world's most generic engine than generic black? Plus, that's what GM was using during most of the 80's anyhow, so why draw attention to it by painting it different than the good General would have had he put it there to start with?

Or you could paint it to match you car's paint.

i put a SBC in my Cutlass and painted it Red

everything is low gloss black on my motor, that's how the crate came so i didn't mess with it just painted everything else to match with low gloss paint, couldn't be happier

Painted my sbc 350 performance orange. That was just the perf. color for just about all chevy's and mopar big block motors back in the 60's. My thinking is that the chevy's engine bay is almost all black, so why paint the engine black? Make that engine pop out at people with a nice color. Blue is alright as well, but I always remember that color being used on the two barrel and eco cars back then. Just my 2 cents

Orange was the generic Chevy engine color back then. It didn't matter if it was a performance model or the 153 4 cylinder in a 1962 Chevy II, they all got painted orange. The only exception is the 216/235 L6 used in the 50's and maybe in some 60's trucks. That would have been blue.
