Ok so as part of the interior refresh, I am redoing my trunk too. I originally, 7 years ago had aspirations to make my interior tan..thus I originally did all my beauty boards and trunk in tan carpet. Used 3M Super 77 to adhear it to all the wood beauty boards and the raw metal areas of the trunk that were exposed. Worked great! This is trunk currently after 7 years. Held up great.

Well now I am going to switch to marine grade vinyl (much easier to clean up any oil off of lol) in a burgandy/maroon to tie the trunk into the interior and vinyl top. I am thinking of using 3M Super 90 adhesive spray to apply. Obviously I am making new floor, sides and woofer box beauty boards so these will have fresh surfaces to attach to. And then the face of the trunk under the woofers will be cleaned and sprayed to adhear the vinyl to it. This will also take place on the very back of the inside if the trunk as well. I do not need to pull the vinyl crazy tight, so am thinking 3M Super 90 should work here too. I was also reading about DAP Landau Top Spray can. But read alot of reviews that it has trouble spraying. So after this long post...what you fellas recommend?

90 is a stronger bond than 77, so take that for what it's worth. So if you want pretty much permanent mounting, 90 is the way to go. If you ever want to remove it, though...

I would say if you're putting it on plywood or something other than the car panels themselves, 90 should work just fine. About the spray thing, I've never heard of issues spraying either of them, but I don't hang out on 3M forum boards or anything. 😀

I'm not a fan of any spay-can contact cement. I prefer hardware -store canned Weldwood, brushed or rolled on. Sprays are difficult to get a good complete coat on a surface, IMO. Also seem expensive for how little is actually in the aerosols. YMMV

Thanks guys. Yeah the spray issue I was referring too was for the Weldwood Dap Landau top spray.. has bad reviews as alot of people say the spray doesn't come out even and makes a mess.
As for the Weldwood brushed or roll on Ribbedroof is this what your talking about?

Should be. Been a while, and I usually buy it in a quart can

I've used the aerosol sprays with varying success and both the 77 and 90 are pretty good. The point about can volume is a valid one because to get the sprays to really work well you've got to coat both pieces fairly liberally. It doesn't take much to stick, but to stick forever takes more. As mentioned, prep is uber important. I haven't heard of the Dap landau top spray but will look into it, thanks.

A previous owner used the liquid stuff in a truck of mine and removing the padding was difficult and required a wire wheel to remove what tore off- it left a God awful mess. It could probably be sprayed with one of these and a small compressor:

I've been researching and it appears that the Landau Top adhesive is slightly thinner than the other contact adhesives and therefore a better option if spraying. I found that it's the recommended glue for upholstery, from cars to boats. People say that a good tip size for spraying glue is about 1.8 mm, and a review claims that the cheap gun is adjustable from 1.3 to 2.0, though someone using it for truck bed liner feels it must be larger because it flowed so well.
