What engine do I have,need help with VIN!!

My car is registered as a 1982 Regal. I was trying to figure out what engine the car came with originally but when I looked at the Buickgods registry, that didgit vould not be found for a 1982.

The digit is a "4" for the engine code. I looked at the 1981 decoding and it shows the number and engine as a 252ci V6 4bl carb. Is it possible that the car is a late model 1981 but was sold as a 1982?

Hopefully someone can solve this problem for me.

According to my sources the 4 code engine is a 4.1 liter(256cid) 4bbl v6 found in only 17% of the regals manufactured in 1982 sir. 1981 did not have a 4 code engine available only a couple of 3.8l v6s. Hope this helps you out. Information was taken from alldata by the way. There were two 3.8 liter (231cid) v6s available in 1981 and 1982 one is a 2bbl A code non turbo and the other is a 3 code 4bbl turbo engine. There was also a V code 4.3 liter diesel v6 available as well.

Yup, the 8th digit. That other site must have been off for some reason. Makes sense seeing the car is a Regal Somerset Limited.
