Ok guys there's tons of options lol. I need band clamps for my pypes system. I notice on summit there are slip joint clamps and lap joint clamps. In principle there exactly the same in my mind. Big difference in price though lol. So what are you guys running? Time to get rid of the u bolt clamps. Anything special to do to swap them out?

The lap joint clamps are for two different size pipes, basically where one fits over or inside another. I have this style on my collectors and also on my tailpipes it gives even pressure on both pieces.
The butt joint is designed for two pipes of equal diameter but on my car if they are the same size then I already welded them together.
Band clamps are designed to give a 360 clamp without crimping like u bolts and allows for easy removal which is why I use them, installation is basic just turn them so the clamp is not hanging down but to where you still give access to the two bolts to tighten them.

Anything special to do when removing the u bolt style clamps for the switch? Do the pypes need to be expanded back out or anything?

So you are saying your pipes are already crimped from u bolt clamps?
I have never used band clamps on any pipe previously using u bolts.
If you don't plan on removing the pipe and the pipe is not distorted then the band clamp should go right in place.
Obviously if you plan on removing the pipe and it is crimped from the u bolt then you will most likely have to fight to get it off either now or when the time comes for removal.

Yeah it currently has u bolt style clamps

So what is your reason for wanting to change to a band clamp?

The band clamp looks and seals better

Well definetly both true, like I said then as long as the pipe is not distorted then it is a simple R & R.
I have seen u clamps over tightened to the point where it will raise the end where the pipes meet.

I used the 1" band clamps. I installed my entire pypes system with the band clamps, no leaks, and is completely removable when I want. You used regular clamps so you will need to see if you crimped the female ends. I guess you could take the clamps apart and slip them around and tighten back up. See pics below.
