What gears in 83 Monte SS??

What gear ratio is in a 1983 monte ss. I have one and a guy told me it has a limited slip with 3:73's. I want more opinions. Im thinking of swapping the whole rear into my Cutlass.

If it's original, it's 3.42's...

'83-'84 had the 3.42's, and '85-'88 had 3.73's.

3:42's ha? Im sure its original, but how can I tell.

Is there a major difference in 2:?? ratio? I may just swap my complete drivetrain into the monte. The Monte is more solid than the Cutlass can be. the damn thing is just dirty. I just need a front nose since I sold that.

Pull the cover off, and there should be two numbers stamped into the gears.

It will read like 14:41... One is the ring, one is the pinion.

I used that as an example cause that's what I just found on my Caprice.
