Saw this in the trunk of a monte carlo for sale and have not seen one before. What is it? Trunk release?

It dosent look like it is a factory part.

where does the cable go to? my guess would be a home made or aftermarket (old fellers like me think " j.c. whitney") trunk release....

Aftermarket left turn signal. It connects to a toggle switch on the left rear taillight. Mechanically interrupts the brake light bulb. Planning ahead for when 1157 bulbs are discontinued.

It looks like a guy made a Powered Flip down License plate. Similar to a locking gas door flap.

So no one would steal his gas but he wouldn't have to hassle with a locking gas cap.

When you look at invention, you have have to put yourself in the mind of the inventor.

I thought of those, too, could even be a flip down plate for evasive maneuvers, but the Spy Hunter stuff was way cooler. 😎
