What is your legacy ?

My legacy? Realistically, nothing. I've probably got another 20 working years ahead of me and I've been fairly financially responsible. My parents are in their late 60s and pretty healthy. My family tree would indicate that 85ish is about all I'll get.

If I go young, my brother can have my tools and help my wife sell cars and motorcycles. My wife and daughter don't really have an interest in them. If I had any guns, my daughter, brother, and one nephew would get them. Obviously, my wife would get the house and other assets. She's been instructed to downsize to a condo. She wouldn't need to work again but almost certainly would.

If I get old(er) first, my wife can donate my tools for all I care. I plan to whittle down my toy collection as years go by. If there are any left when I die, liquidate.

If she dies first, I'm selling everything but my Chief and going nomad.

I have interest in all your stuff. Just saying.😎

My parents also had very little, Dad worked hard but didn't care about financial gain. A 1/4 section of land. Mom bought her current house outright from the farm sale. Sold the Dad's 83 1/2 ton and I inherited the tractor, sold for $5000. Mom has since received many thousands in oil money from my Grandparent's oil rights. Good thing, she had a small pension. Me, there won't be much.

Neither of my kids has much interest in my cars, or in the car hobby. I guess when I pass, the stuff will probably get auctioned off. Not many young folks these days seem to have much interest in the car hobby.

I just turned 60 a couple of weeks ago, Sara will be 65 on the 4th, We never had any kids. My biggest worry especially after being in the hospital last year, is one of us passing away and leaving the other one stuck. Sara would have to deal with selling all the tools and the El Camino. I would need to sell it all too and hire someone to come in and help me get around, cook and clean. Luckily we are out of debt. But it still scares the hell out of me.

Yeah, it's pretty spooky when you hear or read an obituary about someone you knew in high school/college or had worked with...your own mortality smacks you right in the face. Gone are the days of feeling invincible. But think, you still got to look at having plenty of time to figure out what you'll do with the next several years or whatever time you think you have left. No sense in living like you'll be gone in 2 years. If building a bucket list helps, do that. Think back over the last 20 years and how fast that went by, then you look at the next 20...even if you make it that far, important things like adjusting your Depends may end up being the best part of the day. 🙂

I am still a young guy, but I think about it all the time. I am 40 and my wife is 30. My stuff is not the worry, my wife knows to put my car for sale on here if the kids do not want it. As for my stuff, my best friend is an auctioneer. Also here cousin. What we worry about is our daughter. She is Autistic, but she is only four. Our hope is she will be able to take care of her self when she gets older. If she can't, we are talking about setting up a trust for her so if something would happen to us she will have the money to get care. Scary sh*t man! My dad died at 54 from a brain tumor. My grandfathers both died in their mid sixties.

You guys worry to much. 😊 I'll be 69 in a month, I really don't worry about what happens to my cars. My Children 42 and 39 are both professionals and no interest in old cars. All my car buddies, including my Machinist that I started school in 1956 have all passed away. I use to have 4 to 8 guys at my garage on the weekends, now it'll be just me. I'm set financially, do what I want. No ball and chain here, Lady Friend never says anything about my cars. My Daughter, the Attorney, tells me I need to get rid of some of my cars. I tell her if something happens to me, either call an auctioneer or a crusher, her choice. I've been retired 7 years. I really don't get much done, too busy. I've sold 4 cars, it's a pain in the *ss because nobody has cash. So far my health has been great and I plan on doing whatever I want until I can't. Ken
