What Manual 4 speed came in the G-Body platforms?

My wagon has the 3:50 Saginaw transplant. I love the super low first gear. You can have mileage gears out back and loaf on the highway.

The Saginaw was the only 3 & 4 speed used. The 4 speed RPO is M20 for our cars, sales/merchandising RPO should be MY1. M26 is coming up as a FWD gear box, M27 maybe FWD but also coming up as a Getrag 5 speed for a later use. If I recall most of the 4 speeds had the 2.56 1st gear, some could of had 2.85. Most H bodies (Vega/Monza & clones) with a 4 or V6, F & X bodies with a strait 6 (maybe with a V6) used the 3.11 version. I have came across something claiming some Camaros used the 3.50 version. Some of the non A/G info maybe off as most of my research data is four our cars (mainly Chevy since I have one.)

I’m in phx and will be doing a T-56 swap into my 78 monte. Will the column fit? If so I might be interested depending on the price. I thought I heard something about the 78’s are different than the rest of the G-bodies.

I put a Muncie in my 82 El C but Saginaw 3 and 4 speeds. OK trans if you don't rag or put to much HP in front of them.

The '78 columns use a spline joint between the coulmn & lower shaft, '79 up us a double "D" with a cross bolt joint. You'll need to have the matching lower. I have a '78 column for my '81.

My 1981 Malibu wagon came stock with a Chevy V-6 and a 3:50 first Saginaw 3 speed and 2:42 rear gears. What an awful combination! I found the present Saginaw 3:50 4 speed at Englishtown and the guy I bought it from claimed it was from a Monte Carlo he circle track raced.
