i am building my 84 regal, i have my engine all done minus some odds and ends. that really set me back more that i wanted to, but it was worth it. should i go ahead and buy mounts and bushings and bolt the motor in and get it on the ground? or buy a transmission and posi+gears.

what i think

I would go ahead and replace all the front end parts such as springs, tie rods inner and outer. If it was a v6 car like mine was(is) I would definetly replace those springs. But if thats all done you should start with rear up and yeah buying a set of gears or a posi-unit I dont know what type of power you are making but if its under 300hp and if you have the 7.5, a posi chunk 4:10's or 3:73's with all new bearings and seals would please you. ocourse if you can find that sexy gn or 442 rear go for it. I would only do those gears if you plan on going with an o/d transmission which i recommend also. Its also may be possible you have the peg leg 3.23 which are great gears to add a posi to especially if your using a th350.

ya that is what i was thinking of doing, just finishing the front end. i am worried about my rear end though, i am packing about 475-500 hp, i know it will only be a matter of time before the rear end goes. what spring do you recommend to keep the factory ride hight?

i have a 455 Olds in my G-body Cutlass with a 7.5 rear, and as long as you dont run slicks or push it too hard out of the hole, youll be fine, the ring and pinion tend to explode before your axles ever give.... i run diesel springs in my car to compensate for the big-blocks weight and it still sites too high. regular 307 springs will work perfectly

i definitley agree on the suspension thing...fix it once, fix it right...and plan ahead...if it's gonna be your daily driver, don't cheese out on the suspension...do all the bushings, springs, tierod ends, EVERYTHING at once...even with a crappy set of gears or whatever, you'll enjoy cruising your ride SO much more if it rides right.
