The new project is a 78 Monte Carlo 305 and a 4spd. Going to be strictly a cruiser and driver. I would like to use 15" wheels and tires same size all around. What are some specs not to wide and fill up the fender well
and not hanging out of the fender?
Currently on my 79 I have Torque Thrust with 235-60's in front and 255 60's in the rear as was on the car when I purchased it. I changed to 15 x 8.5 in front to match the rears. The 255's in the rear just catch the fender lip on the left rear only. To put the 8.5's in front I had to heat the inner fender at the bottom and remold it closer to the frame. The 15 x 7 Torque Thrusts that came on the front cleared with no problem with the same 235-60's. I've also had the 15 x 8 Corvette rallys from my 88 SS with a 245-60 tire and the cleared without any rub.
15 x 7 front
15 x 8.5 front
Finally got tires and wheels on the Monte. Really changed the car. I think this is a keeper. 8" rear, 7' front 3&3/4" bs. 255/60R15 & 235/60R15. Here are acouple of photo`s
and an interior shot
