Ok, I want to eliminate the fake woodgrain from the interior of my Cutlass...

I am thinking of having some thin stainless cut to fit all the panels with the 'grain on 'em... And using a strong adhesive to hold them... Then have all the panels electro polished to make them shine...

Does anyone else have any other ideas? I'm thinkin' it would look pretty sweet. Has anyone done something similar, pics?, advice?

Thanks!

imo, i would probably go find some trim peices sans woodgrain 😀

Keep in mind that anything polished on the dash will reflect a lot of light, making for potential driving hazards. It's hard to see when the sun is blinding you from a dash plate reflection(anyone with a chrome steering wheel knows what I talking about). Of course there is always window tint. Painted is safer, and easier, and low cost.
Stainless would look very nice, but god forbid there is an accident, because now a days it's common for people to film a walk video around on their cell phone after a collision, which could result in someone seeing polished stainless like "mirrors" on your dash after several viewings of their home video, and then it will be used to build an "at fault" case against you. Sounds crazy, I know, but that's the world we live in today(and I know you'd probably be more likely to win the lottery than have this happen...but people do win the lottery!).

I had once talked with a guy from Tuttle Lake Woodworking(appelton Wi), about having my dash trim plates covered in counter-top laminate, he said it was possible and would be quite time consuming to cut out for the vents. I was looking to do black at the time. Yes, the hard (top of your kitchen counter type)laminate, not some cheap vinyl. The stuff is pliable enough to make back splashes, so it can be curved enough to do that passenger side piece.
